Thanks For Being Part of the 2011 Green Innovation Festival!
The 2011 Green Home Hero Award winners were announced on September 24th at the Allegheny County Green & Innovation Festival.
Over 100 homeowners applied to participate in this 2011 pilot program. 15 qualified homes (folks who had done some work or made significant improvements) were selected to test the Department of Energy's Home Energy Score which was used as the basis for comparisons.

Tips for becoming a Green Home Hero*
1. Know your score. Start with a visit from a certified professional for an in-home “whole house” assessment that can help reduce energy bills and increase year-round comfort. Their report will include a comprehensive list of measures for improvement.
2. Boost your score. Get started on things you can do yourself; for subtle leaks in the basement, attic and walls, consider a professional. Most measures suggested by your in-home assessment will be eligible for PA's reduced rate financing.
3. Payback!
Do a post energy assessment after the work is finished. Make sure the results you wanted have been achieved. Share your results with us by entering your home for a 2012 "Green Home Hero Award" - details to follow!!
